SPORT

Basketball 1st. Year C

In January ’07 seven schools participated in a tournament hosted by Presentation. Emphasis was placed on participation and enjoyment. It was smiles all round with Presentation as eventual winners.

The girls started the league with confidence. With two wins and a loss they went forward as runners- up in the group to meet Bunclody in the Shield semi-final. Bunclody proved too strong and won the game. Well done to all.

2nd. Year C Basketball

Fitness, skill, speed and determination can describe this team. The girls did not concede a game in a pool of six teams. They advanced to the Cup semi-final of the South East to play St. Mary’s Arklow. Suspense was sustained right to the final whistle with Presentation finally losing out by a narrow margin of three points. The girls can be proud of their achievement.

U 14 Gaelic Football

This is a talented, united football side whose maxim is “to give and go”. The team’s strength goes from the goalkeeper to the full forward position with able substitutes on the side. They rose to a variety of challenges in some compromising weather conditions. They have been successful in all games and have advanced to the Leinster quarterfinals against Patrician College, Ballyfin. A neutral venue is to be arranged. Go girls!

FROM THE PARENTS’ COUNCIL
“School bags don’t have to be a pain in the back”

Please read the enclosed information from the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. It contains useful advice and tips on the correct way to carry and use a school bag.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Regular School Attendance: Regular daily attendance at school should be a normal part of life for students if they and their parents wish them to have a successful education. It is important to cultivate a climate in the home where only genuine illness keeps a student out of school. The benefits gained from a good education last a lifetime.

Record of Attendance: The “Swipe System” in use in the school puts the responsibility for recording her attendance onto the student. Students who do not swipe in every day will have an inaccurate record of attendance/absences. This record is used on official forms and will disadvantage the student in certain situations. Please encourage your daughter to take responsibility to swipe every day to ensure that her record of attendance is always correct.

Parent Voluntary Contribution: Thank you to all parents/guardians who contributed for the year 2006/2007. Your support in this and many other areas is very much appreciated.

Incoming 1st. Year Students 2007/2008: There will be a very important meeting for parents/guardians and students in the school on Tuesday 8th. May at 7.30pm. You will shortly receive notice of this meeting by post.

Very best wishes to all our exam students in the written components in June.
